So, the time has come to try and hire a posh suit. I can’t be the only male who has to hire a posh suit and yet hates the entire experience of shopping for clothes – so you’d have thought the male tailors would have tried to make it as easy as possible. But oh no.

Thus to Suits You Westfield. Which is a total nightmare of a shop.

The first time I popped in, the sales guy kept trying to get me to hire a package for the exorbitant cost of £100. And then when I refused to do so, he put the order on hold so that I could “think about it and come back tomorrow”. He said he wouldn’t be there but he assured me that someone else would be.

I popped in the next day. A very disgruntled and pissed-off salesperson eventually deigned to try and recreate my order, but gave up with their insanely slow systems after 20 minutes, and asked me to “come back tomorrow”.

The next day, neither of the salespeople I had dealt with were there, and instead there was one guy there – a right geezer of a salesman – who literally said “We can’t help you”. I asked why, and he said the store was closing down in two weeks. Strange I don’t see any sign of a Closing Down sale…

Thus, I went into another department store – and they had the opposite problem in being understaffed – thus, every time I try to pop in, the staff are rushed off their feet dealing with other customers. I’ve tried to pop in at three lunchtimes and not had much success – the one time I actually did manage to get measured, I had to wear something that was 4 sizes too small – just to see how it would look – and then realised they didn’t have the lilac waistcoat I wanted.

Online was no help – despite the smartgrooms.co.uk website claiming they could supply a suit by the desired date, when I called them it turned out they couldn’t. And I’m still waiting to hear from another website.

That’s not even getting into the outrageous cost of hiring a suit – and everyone seems to charge the same prices. If that isn’t something that deserves a complaint to the Monopoly Commission, I don’t know what does.

So… spoilers and my broken incoherent thoughts for the superlative and rather emotional The Big Bang – don’t read if you haven’t seen it!

Ok, nit-picking out of the way:

It’s often said that for two-parter episodes, the first part is much better than the second, simply because the second part has to wrap up all the loose strings. While this is certainly much better than most two-parters, it’s still lacking a little something…

Like the Pandorica. So, an entire Alliance of Doctor Who villians spend ages conspiring to create a box that the Doctor can’t escape from. Not only that, they put in a “Restoration Field” to ensure that whatever’s in there, stays alive? Why not just kill him?

Never mind that in the previous episode, the Doctor & River Song spend 30 minutes trying to figure out how to open it. Then Auton-Rory waves it open by pressing a sonic screwdriver, and 1800+ years later a Scottish 9-year-old girl opens it?

But otherwise, a fantastic episode in its own right, where the Doctor literally kick-starts the universe.

I love how Doctor Who has graduated from season arcs to multi-season arcs in one fell swoop. Let’s just hope there is an ending and a wrap-up at some point.

In the fandom stakes, I think Moffatt beats RTD for sheer fan-geek-ness. A fandom theory (the Jacket!Doctor) becomes true ?!

Also, it seems ironic that just when I decide on not hiring a morning suit for the wedding (the suit cartels at Suits You are evil evil evil!) the Doctor wears one to Amy’s wedding.

Now to figure out how to get something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue.

My review of the place follows:

If you like food, or cinema, this is DEFINITELY the place for you.

First off, it’s a learned cinema fan’s paradise. The basement is the ideal living room, stuffed full with cinematic books and DVDs for sale, and at the end a huge screen where they hold evening screenings. It’s a fantastically chilled out place from where to watch your favourite obscure film (Brazil). They hold screenings of curated films once a week, and it sounds like a fantastic way to broaden your film knowledge.

The ground floor holds film exhibitions, and a very very good selection of film magazines that you can just pick up and read. Plus there’s wi-fi if you want to work on your killer screenplay.

Alongside all this is a cafe, but not just any cafe. The sangria is gorgeous, and the cakes are oozing with seductive delights.

If I had one complaint about this place, it’s that it’s obviously not for your average-going Odeon mainstream person who prefers Doctor Doolittle to Doctor Parnassus. And the price for food heaven is a bit high …

But for years I have often lamented the lack of film-centric places in West London. Now there is one, and I can’t see how it could get better. (well, unless they held screenings of Doctor Who)

Check out my review of cinephilia – I am almostwitty – on Qype

Spoilers ahead, if you haven’t seen the frankly epic fantabulous episode that was The Pandorica Opens…

OMG. OMG. OMG. Brain still can’t process anything more than incoherent thoughts just yet:

- Best opening ever. Characters from previous episodes leading everyone on a merry goosechase. Although how did River Song from the 51st Century end up meeting Queen Liz 10 when Liz 10 is supposed to be in the 29th Century, on the back of a giant space when the sun has fried Earth to a golden crisp? (which is what may happen in 2013!)

- How can it be the oldest cliff-face in the universe?

- The Cyberman. Very manga. As if they weren’t manga enough… Although wouldn’t it have been fab (and more logical!) if the Cyberdart contained nano-probes that would make Amy want to be a Cyberman?

- Stonehenge surrounded by spaceships. Every 1970s prog-rock album cover come true.

- The big alliance. Why would locking the Doctor up stop the cracks in time from happening?

- What are the Silurians doing there? They’ve been buried under the Earth for millions of years. They don’t have spaceships or time travel technology. How would they been involved?

- When would the Autons (or anyone else) have been able to download Amy’s memories? It must have been after episode 9…

- It was River Song who lured the Doctor to Stonehenge. So why use Amy?

- In River Song’s timeline, it’s after she killed someone and was sent to prison. So who *did* she kill?

- Rory coming back. That gave a shriek of glee from HyperHam.

- So Amy’s dead. Bizarrely, this had pretty zero effect on me and HyperHam. Whereas we were bawling at The End of Time and when Donna lost her memories. Why would that be?

- The Doctor being imprisoned – a fantastically brilliant twist. But somehow, that didn’t seem to mean as much as it should do. Like when Doctor Eleven shouted to the ships above – seems like someone’s impersonating a Doctor rather than being the Doctor.

- Surely this episode should have ended with the TARDIS blowing up as well? That’s the money-shot we all want to see…

- Although the final shot, with the Earth all alone among a bunch of exploding galaxies… is this the darkness coming that was foreshadowed at the end of season 4?

So psychic Derek Acorah’s had to cancel a few concerts at short notice. The pun writes itself. Which hasn’t stopped me in the past.

When I was flat-hunting in Cardiff, I saw an ad with a flat to rent above a psychic’s shop. So I called the number, and ended up speaking to the psychic’s son, who said that she’d fallen in a serious accident and was now in hospital.

I could see the joke coming towards me – and insensitive as it was – I just couldn’t escape the full-on headlights of the joke as it hurtled towards me.

And inevitably I uttered: “Sorry to hear that – did she see it coming?”

Surprisingly, the son carried on talking to me, and invited me round to see the flat. Although I shouldn’t have bothered. When there’s weird splatterings on the wall and floor covered with gay pornography, it’s not exactly a selling point for the flat.
