Don'cha wish they could write songs?

Don'cha wish they could write songs?

For those of us whose ears have been assaulted by the annoyingly catchy Don’Cha from the Pussycat Dolls – an American version of the Spice Girls (you can tell this because they are more porn-otastic and each one of them has different coloured hair), then here’s the real story on the song, courtesy of Popbitch:

“This week’s number one, Don’t Cha, was written and originally performed by US rap artist Tori Alamaze. The track came out on promo on Universal earlier this year, but Tori was quietly shelved when the label decided she wasn’t cute enough. Enter LA dance troupe Pussycat Dolls, who have been trying to make it in the music industry for years despite the fact that only one can sing.

So, while the Dolls tour the world, next week Tori plays Joey Harrison’s surfclub, Ortley Beach, New Jersey. But, at least she’s probably making a fortune in royalties.

  • Ugh! I hate that song with a fiery passion. And now it's in my head, thank you very much. :-p

  • Skarlett

The Pussycat Dolls used to be a fun burlesque night out-especially when Carmen Elektra danced with them.
As musical performers, they're a joke.

And I LIKED Spice World-I found it very fun and semi-amusing. 🙂

  • I'd never heard of the Pussycat Dolls until last week during a cable-watching marathon. And now it's mentioned on your blog! Weird, dude. WEIRD! =)

Actually… no. Tori is saying that she left Universal… (dunno which is true) but in order to get out of her contract, she had to leave the song behind. It was the producer that passed it along to the Pussycat Dolls.

The video is horrible and a terrible affront to women. (I don't mind the "come do me" music, but trying to take someone else's boyfriend?? oy.)

  • 'Ello! This is Robin Leech reporting on the Wrong, Freaky and Tragically Just Not Cute Enough…

  • Typical.

I can only hope she's laughing and pointing all the way to the bank.
