Not going to the tech ball

I was rather looking forward to going to the Technology Wales 2005 awards dinner. Partly because workmate and award-winning designer Mark Boulton was in the running for an award (plus he’s meant to cast a design eye over this blog which desperately needs a designer) and it would help in figuring out just what the new media landscape in Cardiff is like. Which is probably something I need to figure out. Fast.

So it’s a shame that the awards dinner was cancelled with just three days to go. Which doesn’t exactly give me a lot of reassurance about the state of new media in Wales and the UK, despite what all the recruiters keep telling me.

Baluga.

Picture this: you’re in the middle of the Sahara desert (maybe 100 years hence, when its expanded yet further); mile upon terrible mile of nothingness stretching ahead as far as the mind can imagine. The only sound is the distant confused barking of a couple of vultures, arguing in Gog over the merits of eating the skeletal remains of what they think is a corpse – but is, in fact, just a very old cloud.
That, m’colleague, is the Cardiff New Media landscape.

  • Hmmmm, I've a feeling this will never materialise. Shame.

I will look at your blog sometime Andrew, I promise πŸ˜‰

  • No geek disco for you! πŸ™‚
