Don't put stuff up online if you don't want people to read it! Duh!

Don't put stuff up online if you don't want people to read it! Duh!

Yet another blogger (sorry Iain, I know she’s a friend of yours) decides not to blog after discovering, shock horror, that people can use your words against you.

I’m not immune from this problem – my first blog was far too blatantly honest about my inner deviant thoughts (how was I to know Google would put my site up as the first reference to a Welsh pub?), and I’m very very fortunate that my friends have a sense of humour about the whole thing. Even if they do keep quoting the odd line from it at regular intervals. If I ever do get married, the best man’s speech is going to be squirmingly awful.

Every blogging site ought to have this phrase as the first huge disclaimer in bold words: DO NOT POST ANYTHING YOU WOULDN’T WANT YOUR BOSS, YOUR UNCLE, YOUR MOTHER OR YOUR LOVER TO KNOW. Or if you do, suffer the consequences.

Not that it’ll help!
