According to a BBC 6 Music survey on “Songs that saved your life”, for some bizarro reason, Bowling For Soup’s Girl all the Bad Guys Want is second on the list. Above REM, Everybody Hurts.
Now admittedly Girl All The Bad Guys Want is a relatively jolly upbeat tune – but it’s hardly a fantastic reassurance that all is well and fine. And it’s not a fantastic cheerful tune. Surely? I think the Polyphonic Spree (#20 on the countdown) would be a much better choice. Still, can’t argue with the great British public. Well, the 1% that listen to 6 Music anyway.
Personally, whenever life gets me down Mrs Brown, it’s Garbage and Version 2.0 for me.
