Yup, New Mexico’s Route 666 has been formally rechristened to Route 491. A highly essential move I’m sure you’ll agree. As the Governor Bill Richardson said: “After 77 years of concern and discontent we have finally removed any reference to the devil from this highway.” Mind you, it does have some of the highest fatalities per mile of any highway in New Mexico.
